The Takahashi Mewlon 180C is a compact Dall-Kirkham reflector designed for planetary imaging and observation. The optical design combines an ellipsoidal primary mirror and spherical secondary mirror, with the surface quality of the optics being extremely accurate at λ/20.
The Mewlon 180C has a native focal length of 2160mm and a focal ratio of f/12, making it the ideal instrument for planetary use. The compact design with a tube weight of only 6.2kg makes it easy to transport to locations where the seeing conditions are more favourable. The integrated 7 x 30 finder scope is adjustable and can also be used as a carrying handle.
A 0.8x focal reducer is available (sold separately), transforming the scope into 1760mm f/9.8 for wider views and with an image circle of 30mm. Note: The Mewlon 180C is not designed for deep sky imaging with pinpoint stars across a large sensor, however it excels at planetary and lunar imaging.
